Alison Keslow Bassist, Composer, Educator.
Alison Keslow, based in Boston, MA, is a bassist who has always loved performing and teaching in a variety of settings to express her love of music and desire to connect with people on a deeper level.
“I have always dug in to a lot of different styles of music. I play a mix of anything from jazz and blues to rock and r&b and funk. This allows me to work in many situations and I really enjoy it! I think if you play from your heart and play with passion, your audience is gonna feel it regardless if it’s their preferred music.”
The back story ~ Alison grew up in a musical home in New York with her mom, a professional jazz pianist. Alison learned piano at age four and would accompany her mom on performances by the time she was eight. Alison also began writing songs on the piano as a young child and was frequently a part of the jam sessions that would occur in her home.
More back story ~When Alison was sixteen she met her best friend, partner in life, guitarist Peter Wiernik. Together they created a long journey of music and music education, together. They have two sons and are active music educators in the New England area.
Since 2015 Alison has been teaching at Berklee College of Music’s Summer Performance Program, Berklee Bass Workshop with artist in residence Victor Wooten and the Berklee Guitar Series.
Educator Philosophy ~ “My philosophy is to help students expand their horizons by building on their backgrounds and interests. Focus is on the students natural strengths combined with solid music theory that results in developed intuition when performing with others.”
